Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov – Scheherazade

There can be no doubt that when it comes to storytelling, the Russians do so vividly! Whether it’s the story of “Prince Igor” and his attempts to unify his kingdom against the attack of the invading Tartars or the alluring tale of a clever woman named “Scheherazade”, who manages to keep her wits (and head!) about her for 1,001 nights, composers Alexander Borodin and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov use their unique skills of orchestration to bring those stories to their full colors and life. Will Prince Igor and his son, Vladimir, escape the clutches of their captors? Will Scheherazade be able to enthrall her groom long enough to gain his affection and trust? Join us and find out!
