St. Michael’s Lutheran Church
9201 Normandale Blvd., Bloomington
In this concert, the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra and ‘cello soloist Arek Tesarczyk of the Minnesota Orchestra, take full advantage of the richness of Peter Ilyich Tchaikovksy’s unrivaled gift for melody. From the brooding opening, fierce swordplay, and unforgettable love theme in his Romeo and Juliet: Fantasy Overture to his charming Variations on a Rococo Theme for ‘cello and orchestra we are treated to what seems to be an unending spring of musical ideas. The concert continues and ends triumphantly with Tchaikovsky’s spectacular and beloved Symphony No. 5 in E minor, complete with solos throughout the orchestra that are sure to gladden every heart.
